OST & PACIFIC MODE: Pendant b2b Yumi, shinetiac, Special Guest DJ @ Nowadays

Sick lineup except I didn't actually make it to this one. We bought tickets but couldn't get in because they shut the doors at midnight (even though the show went til 1). What the fuck Nowadays? You're telling me my buddy just snorted all that ket for nothing? Shame on you.

This is one of those spaces that envisions itself as more than just a store selling high-end speakers to rich people, it's got a cafe in the back with hot, cold and fermented Japanese teas, crates of old records for perusing and purchasing, and big long black tables where you can post up and do "creative work," presumably, during the day. It's a vibe, a brand, a studio, a whatever. I went to a few of these types of places during my week in NYC, they all rubbed me the wrong way, money play acting as art. Avery Tucker used to play in Girlpool and now he's making music that would make The Boss proud: raw and shaky vocals singing lyrics about the ravages of time over gravelly electric guitar. I liked opener Scarlet Rae a lot too, one woman with a cutting voice making a lot of noise on an acoustic
